Doves are the bird at any lodge in the northwest part of Uruguay, especially if you ask wingshooters. Los Gauchos didn't just ask, we went to see. The best dove hunting in Uruguay is located in the northwest part of Uruguay and Los Gauchos has access to the best Uruguay dove hunting lodges that include Dorado fishing the freshwater fist that many come to South America to try their hand at catching.

Don't worry dorado fishing is a catch and release program with a strong emphasis on catching. You can expect to hook up on 15 dorados per day. The size of the dorado varies from 10 pounds to 50 pounds in the La Zona area, a unique fishing area that is not heavily fished and our guides have access to, giving our clients access to some awesome dorado fishing in Uruguay.

La Zona is a large freshwater fishing area in Uruguay and many times the day of fishing will also include fishing outside La Zona. Outside the La Zona area, anglers can expect to hook up to 25 fish per day. The dorados caught outside the La Zona area are smaller, ranging from 2 pounds to 15 pounds.

Now for the blast part of the Los Gauchos Cast and Blast Uruguay Trip. Dove hunting in Uruguay is high volume and shooters can expect to shoot two cases per day.

During the Perdiz hunting season, you can really make this Uruguay hunting trip a Cast and Blast. Perdiz hunting in Uruguay is an Upland bird hunt using brittanies that help spot the Perdiz and make this a true classic hunt. The limit for Perdiz is 10 birds per day and one can expect 30-45 flushes per hunt.

The accommodations for the Los Gauchos Uruguay Cast and Blast hunting trip is a hotel that is luxury in every detail. Located just outside the city of Salto, Uruguay, the hotel and meals are included in the daily rate. Drive time to the dove hunting is 10 minutes and drive time to the boat docks for the dorado fishing is 15 minutes. So, your time is spent fishing for dorados and shooting doves and/or Perdiz in the Uruguay fields located right outside Salto, Uruguay.


Dorados are caught on fly fishing or spin casting. All spin casting rods are included - if you want to fish with a fly rod, please bring your own.

The dove and dorado trip can be done anytime of year. Perdiz hunting in Uruguay is available May through the end of July. Top equipment is provided unless you prefer to use a fly rod or a gun other than a 20 gauge. Uruguay has one form that we have online for you to complete and the rate is collected before you depart. Once you land in Uruguay the license is issued and off to the fields you go.

Standard Cast and Blast trips are 4 days - combing the high volume doves with the high action dorado fishing, your time will fly by and you will be active and the talk back home when you send your photos of your trophy dorado and the pile of shotguns you shot during the Uruguay dove hunt.
