Uruguay duck hunting at the Fortin Lodge is duck hunting at its best. Uruguay duck hunting is only as good as the access to the ducks are. So, with private rice farms and fields and water sources and guides that know the land, the waterfowl characteristics, this provides a great duck hunting experience.

Duck hunting in Uruguay is a waterfowl hunting destination you could get used to. In fact, we have many clients that book season after season. The duck hunting is good throughout the season with the opening month of May full of high volume ducks that have never seen decoys or duck hunters, so they come in crowds and make the Uruguay duck hunting an exciting one.

In mid-June through August, the weather is colder and the larger ducks have migrated over the duck hunting blinds. A prime time for the water fowl hunter who wants to see a wide species of ducks and enjoys the population of large Uruguay ducks that come into the decoys.

The Perdiz hunting is a wonderful addition to the Uruguay duck hunting, and with the work of the bird dogs and the easy walk through the scenic fields of Uruguay, this will be an Upland experience you will want to repeat.

This lodge is located in the northeast part of Uruguay, about 3.5 hours from Montevideo. The Uruguay duck and Perdiz hunting trips is duck hunting all day or in the morning and then Perdiz hunting in the afternoon.

The lodge is a large lodge that provides single room occupancy (*based on availability - extra fee). The large living area has a large bar area for relaxing after an Upland hunt or great afternoon duck hunt. The food is prepared by a private chef who will prepare the Perdiz and ducks for appetizers as well as the famous beef and dishes known in South America.

When: Uruguay duck-Perdiz hunting is available May to July and trips are 3, 4, or 5 days in length.

Where: Los Gauchos provides 2 duck hunts per day or AM duck hunt and PM Perdiz hunting. The Fortin Lodge is located near Chuy, Uruguay, which is close to the border of Brazil.
Los Gauchos recommends flying into Montevideo, Uruguay (MVD) and transfer by van to the Fortin Lodge. The staff meets you at the airport and the travel time to the lodge is about 3.5 hours.

Who: avid waterfowl hunters and those wanting to take part in the Perdiz hunting season. May, June or July provides a combo hunt for Uruguay duck hunting and Uruguay Perdiz hunting out of the same lodge and the hunting is superb. Take 'em.

What: There are over 10 species of Uruguay ducks. The teal will be the main species during the beginning of the season. The larger ducks such as the Rosy Bill Pochards move in about mid-June. The Perdiz are a quail like bird unique to South America.
